Included is one tour program of your choice, which should be chosen in advance to ensure your space. At times there is an entrance ticket fee, which is not included, but is nominal and listed below. If you would like to attend other tours, the prices are listed below. One tour per day is offered.

LAZIO: Exploring the areas of Tuscia Etruscan Viterbo & Renaissance Gardens of Villa Lante

Program I :

Morning walk in the historical center of ancient VITERBO, dating to Etruscan period, including San Pellegrino Medieval quarters, Palazzo Papale 13th century palazzo for official visits of Popes; Duomo cathedral with 12th century bell tower; Palazzo dei Priori with frescoes of town’s history.

LUNCH at a typical local trattoria with menu based on ancient local recipes.

Afternoon walk through the stunning gardens of VILLA LANTE, one of Italy’s best-preserved examples of Renaissance landscaping designed by the era’s most prominent architect, Il Vignola for Cardinal Giovanni Francesco Gambara. He commissioned the numberless water plays, and fountains originating from mountain springs, and called upon the most illustrious artists of the time to decorate the Villa's halls, like Zuccari, Raffaellino da Reggio, Tempesta and Lombardelli. Successively the Villa was owned by several cardinals, among whom duke Ippolito Lante, who gave it its present name.

SOUTHERN UMBRIA: Exploring Ancient Orvieto

Program II:

Morning departure for ORVIETO (one hour drive), city of Etruscan origin dramatically perched atop volcanic rock. Stroll through the charming streets of the city lined with artisans shops where ceramic and woodwork is displayed. Visit the magnificent Gothic style cathedral whose construction began in the 1300’s and ended some 300 years after. It is considered the masterpiece of architect Lorenzo Maitani, with gilded mosaics, sculptures, and bas relief recounting stories from the bible.

For the more energetic, take a walk down the 15th century Pozzo di San Patrizio, a unique example of engineering with two spiral staircases seven stories below which never cross each other.

Late Lunch either outside the city at an Agriturismo farm, or in a typical trattoria.
Return in late afternoon

Program III:

Morning departure to visit stunning Medieval cities of TODI or SPOLETO (one hour and a quarter). Stroll around the historical center of town and continue to ASSISI.

Lunch on the way at the Malvarina farm at the foot of the Subasio mountains.

Visit ASSISI center including the magnificent Basilica of San Francesco and Giotto’s frescoes.

Return to Sabina and stop en route in Deruta, Italy’s largest ceramic center.

LAZIO: Relaxation at the Thermal Spa of Viterbo

Program IV:

Afternoon departure for VITERBO (50 minutes) to the outlying thermal spa Terme dei Papi. An afternoon of total relaxation in the soothing warm water of the spa’s pool. Extra treatments can be reserved in advance upon request (various types of massage, facials, mud bath, thermal steam bath, etc).

Dinner in the historical center of Viterbo at a typical trattoria using ancient local recipes.
